This service is offered at Ransom County Public Health but can also be done at regular Dr. appointments. A new tool that we have added is a booklet titled "Know Your Numbers", this easy to use tool allows you to record your personal numbers and track your progress or remind you to make lifestyle changes. "Know Your Numbers" records the date of screening, blood glucose, blood pressure, total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, weight, BMI, and waist measurement. If you have questions about your numbers you can talk to one of the nurses on staff, you can make an appointment with our licensed dietician or you can consult your doctor. Take some time and stop into Ransom County Public Health and pick up your free booklet.

We are a community resource for providing public health services, but also (and, often, more importantly) an important resource for providing information regarding health and safety topics and issues. Feel free to post questions here that you have regarding personal or public health and safety. If we don't have the answer; hopefully, we can point you toward a more informed resource.

Within our department we are concerned with school health issues such as school screenings (e.g. vision, hearing, scoliosis, oral health), child passenger safety (e.g. children's car safety seats and seatbelts), immunizations, diabetes education, reproductive health, high bood pressure, prevention of heart disease, cholesterol screening, emergency response to biohazard and pandemic events, prenatal care, lactation counseling, radon testing and mitigation, environmental health issues (e.g. healthy maintenance of public swimming pools, daycare inspections, providing access to water testing services, etc.), infectious diseases (e.g. monitoring West Nile, H1N1 Flu, seasonal flu, pertussis, etc.), farm safety, bike safety, and others. Feel free to refer to our website for additional information (http:ransomph.homestead.com) or post a question here.

We look forwarding to serving the public further through this new venue.
